How to Create a YouTube channel

While you can watch, like videos and subscribe to YouTube channels with a Google Account,  you cannot have a public presence on Youtube without creating a channel. And it is important to follow the correct process in creating your YouTube channel in order to avoid being stuck in the process. 

Owning a youtube channel is good as it helps you grow your businesses/brands, considering that Youtube is the second largest visited site after Google. So it presents a great platform for one to showcase his business and brands while also making money. If you want to upload videos, comment, or make playlists, then creating a channel is a must for you. 

You can create your YouTube channel on either the YouTube website or the mobile site. This article will show you how to create your own channel step-by-step. 

To start the process, you have to: 

1. Sign in to your Google account.

Just as always, you need a Google account to enjoy Google products and services. So you will have to 

• Go to www.youtube.com and click on "Sign In" in the upper right-hand corner. 

• From there, you'll be taken to a Google sign-in page.

• If you have a Google account, you'll be prompted to sign in.

• If you have multiple Google accounts, be sure to select the one you want to be associated with the YouTube channel.

• If you do not have a Google account, click "Create Account" and follow the prompts to register for one.

2. Create a YouTube channel

Before going in to create your channel, it is good you know the type of channel you want to create. whether it is a Personal Channel or a Business Channel. This will guide you through the steps you take while creating the channel.

Follow these instructions to create a personal channel which can only be managed by you alone using your Google Account:

• Visit www.youtube.com to sign in to YouTube on a computer.

•     After you have signed in, click your user icon in the upper right-hand corner. You'll see a drop-down menu, click "Settings."

• From there, you'll be taken to your account overview. Click "Create a new channel" under "Your channel."

• Then, create your new channel name. It can be anything you want but should reflect the brand you want to show.

• After you enter the channel name, you may be required to verify the account through text or voice calls. enter the code you received. Once the account is verified, you will be taken t your channel dashboard where you can customise it.

3. Customisation 

At this point, you will have the opportunity to further customize your channel and add the following:

• Uploading a profile picture

• Adding a description of your channel

• Adding links to your sites – this can include custom links to a website or blog as well as social links to Instagram or Twitter and many other settings you may desire.
