Scotland Saltire Scholarships 2023-2024
This Scholarship is awarded to
scholars who aspire to become influential leaders in their future careers – that
is scholars with wide-ranging interests outside their studies and a desire to
broaden their personal and academic experience in Scotland.
The scheme offers up to 50 awards, each worth £8000, towards
tuition fees for one year of full-time study on a postgraduate Masters
programme at any of Scotland’s higher
education institutions.
In order to apply for a Saltire Scholarship candidates must
have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university
on an eligible course. However, the
application window for the Saltire International Scholarship 2023 programme for
students is now closed.
Grant Details
The scholarship is
worth £8000 and it is used towards tuition fees for any one year of full-time
study on a postgraduate Masters programme at any Scotland university. The Saltire
Scholarships are not renewable and are given only once in the complete on-campus PG study at a
Scotland university. These scholarships cover partial tuition fees
while the rest of the fees need to be paid by the scholars.

Eligibility Criteria of Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships 2023
The
Scottish Government and the various universities have set certain guidelines
for the eligibility of the Saltire Scholarships. All applicants are required to
fulfill the eligibility requirements mentioned below:
The applicant must:
- Receive a conditional or unconditional offer letter from a Scottish university is required.
- Enroll in areas of Science, Medical Science, Technology, Healthcare, Renewable & Clean Energy, or Creative Industries
- Be citizens of Canada, Japan, the USA, India, China, Hong Kong, or Pakistan are eligible.
- Be able to meet the payment of remaining tuition fees and living expenses.
- Provide the reasons for studying in Scotland and the proposed benefits of the course chosen by him/her.
- Present leadership qualities that will enable them to use the studied course effectively for the betterment of career and community.
- Not be a previous student in Scotland.
- Not have received a Saltire Scholarship before.
- Meet the language requirements.
- Complete the application form before the closing date.
Saltire Scholarships Terms and Conditions
The
applicant must:
- Maintain
good discipline, attitude, and aptitude towards the scholarship and the
institution of study.
- Be willing
to participate in extra co-curricular activities and conferences or
seminars organized by the scholarship program.
- Support
and promote Scottish universities or study in the UK and Scotland as
well as the Saltire Scholarship program through posting on social media, interacting
with prospective students, and or actively participating in the
advertisement activities of the scholarship program.
- Give consent
under the privacy protection laws to use his/her data for promotional
activities by the scholarship authorities.
Application Process for Scottish Government Scholarship 2023
To apply
for the Saltire Scholarships, the student must:
- Apply through Scotland's official website under
the Scotland Saltire scholarship section.
- Select the name of Scottish University, the
course you applied for, and the program, against which you received an offer letter.
- Ensure to mention the area of your interest.
- Ensure to answer the given essay questions with
a word limit of 250 each.
- Ensure to provide the supporting documents,
required in the application form.
- Complete the application form carefully and
submit it.
Selection Process
The
selection process for the Saltire Scholarships is dependent on certain
important factors such as:
- The application
of the applicant
- How well
the questions addressed are answered
The
notification for the scholarship selection is sent by the university
preferably in July. The applicants must note that the decision date
varies from university to university.
It is the
discretion of the authorities to call an applicant for a presentation or
interview. Upon receiving the scholarship notification, applicants must make
sure to accept the notification within four weeks. If not, the scholarship
award will be withdrawn.
Termination of Saltire Scholarships
The
Scottish Government reserves the right to terminate the Scholarships from
any of the study programs, especially, if the recipients are not maintaining
the required code of conduct.
Also, if
the institution feels that the recipient is not actively participating in the
outlined programs or is causing indiscipline or showing inappropriate behaviour,
the institution may recommend the elimination of the scholar from the list of the
Saltire Scholarship Program.
